At DaCosta Verde, we are a women-founded, and led fashion brand. Our core values are curated with thoughtful intention and mindfulness from the early design stages. We aim to eradicate environmental disruption across value chains by utilizing the resources we have direct access to (suppliers, fabrics, production, packaging). Simply, we are starting small with the tools we have and plan to scale as sustainably and ethically as possible.

  • We recognize our creations and outputs have an immediate effect on the planet. This is why DaCosta Verde is diligent about our commitment to the Triple Bottom Line (People, Planet, Prosperity). We have expansive long-term goals and recognize transparency is key to ethical growth.
  • We believe in imperfect sustainability while we work to achieve ultimate circularity– our progress >claiming complete perfection. At DaCosta Verde, we are transparent about the respective components of value chains and core business practices.
  • We boldly commit to innovation, seeking alternatives that contribute to positive change. A small dynamic team allows us to leverage our capability to source and create with thoughtful intention. DaCosta Verde recognizes the detrimental environmental and social impacts of the fashion industry and is working relentlessly to develop strategies that can benefit all.
  • We are enthusiastic to curate awareness and empathy for the humanity of our planet with our value-driven product creations. Beyond carbon offsetting initiatives, DaCosta Verde is gearing up for our future recycling/upcycling program.

Future Commitments:

Mitigating emissions and waste

DaCosta Verde is an established partner with DHL’s Go Green service, to mitigate and offset the carbon emissions produced during the shipping process. The company also currently works with Etsy and Sendle, to minimize shipping emissions and prioritize recyclable/compostable packaging. Recyclable and compostable packaging encourages consumers to take action and consider small scale efforts to reduce waste to landfill.

By 2023, DaCosta Verde is committed to building an annual sustainability impact report, representative of each product. The company will measure and monitor each product and transparently report the impact of the given product. (For example, the Recycle Tote Bag reduced X% amount of carbon emissions, minimized X% of water usage and material waste to landfill/incineration). Voluntary targets empower DaCosta Verde to raise the bar beyond general reporting transparency and set attainable company goals.

Offsetting Emissions and education

In collaboration with S.O.S Amazonia, DaCosta Verde has accomplished donating over 2764 trees in the Amazon Rainforest between 2020-2021. As one of the most tenured nonprofits located in the state of Acre, Brazil, the core pillars of S.O.S Amazonia contributes to environmental sustainability social impact. As trees are planted for harvest, each tree S.O.S Amazonia offers transparency of their operations through a unique sustainability statement.

By 2027, DaCosta Verde will plant 5000 trees in the Amazon Rainforest. We are dedicated to the rehabilitation and protection of our native land’s biodiversity. Restoring the Amazon Rainforest is prioritized through tree planting initiatives, creating work for micro communities. An education program at the Riverside communities will partner with indigenous people by 2030.
